Shenzhen, China -（May 20, 2021）- Sunway Communication has joined the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC). The cross-industry organization advances global technologies for smartphone-to-car connectivity solutions. The Board of Directors of CCC include individuals from the charter member companies Apple, BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, LG, Panasonic, Samsung, and Volkswagen. The organization’s 100 plus members represent a large portion of the global automotive and smartphone markets.

The major development area for CCC is Digital Key, an exciting new open standard to allow smart devices, like smartphones to act as a vehicle key. The Digital Key is not only a car key, but also a security application. Digital Key will let drivers lock and unlock their cars, and even let them start the engine and share access to friends or valets, using their phones. Another project, Car Data, will create an ecosystem to link the ever-expanding set of vehicle data to authorized data usage, such as pay-how-you-drive insurance, road monitoring, and fleet management. 

Following a history of automotive products from different business units, Sunway established its dedicated automotive subsidiary in 2019, which focuses entirely on the development of automotive products. As a member of the Car Connectivity Consortium, Sunway Communication will continue to contribute to automotive innovation and to create sustainable and flexible ecosystems that standardize the interfaces between vehicles and smartphones.
